Caramel Dumplings

Dumpling Ingredients:

1 ¼ cups self raising flour
1/3 cups sugar
1/3 cups of milk
30g butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Pinch salt

Sauce Ingredients:

30g butter
1 ½ cup brown sugar
Pinch salt
1 ½ cup water

 Dumpling Method:

Sift flour and salt into bowl rub in butter, add milk, sugar, vanilla and mix well, (time to get your hands dirty)!

Sauce Method:

Combine all ingredients together in large saucepan, stir constantly until boiling then reduce heat.

Dumpling Method Continued:

Drop ½ tablespoon of dough into simmering sauce, cover simmer 20 mins. Turn over after about 5 minutes to cook the other side.

 

Dumplings ready once has been cooked on both sides and when cut in half are not ‘doughy’.


Serve with ice cream or cream, eat hot!
Mixture serves 3 or 4.
